Second floor framed!

We went to visit our house on Sunday, February 3rd and it was almost completely framed!!!  I actually spoke to Tim on Friday and he told me that they were working on the roof, and trying to get all of the wood down for it, but it looks like they aren't completely finished with the roof yet.

Here she is!!  We were so excited when we drove up and actually got to see the house.  Cody ran right up to see if our door was open (it was) so I ran in after him and went inside the house.  You can see him standing in the doorway in this picture.

Right as we walked in we saw the keys to our house hanging up!!  It won't be too long until we are in possession of those!

We browsed around the main floor before we went upstairs.  The major difference that we noticed is that the fireplace is coming along.  Here is the vent system or the actual fire place.

And here is the mantel area.  You can see that it is framed in more and actually looks like a fireplace.

They put a board over our basement stairs.  We think that is because they are going to start heating it up this week so that they can pour it next week.

This board did not stop Cody from trying to look down there.  He was really bummed that he couldn't go down, but it's pretty muddy and dark down there so in the end he decided not to.  But he did contemplate keeping that board on the stairs, and making it electronic so that he could close it when he wants to be left alone in the basement, and then open it when he wants company...  yeah... that'll happen...

You can see that they didn't completely finish our roof on Friday. Tim said he wasn't sure if they would complete it on Friday or not.  You can see the gaps in the roof.  That was pretty consistent throughout the whole house.

This is a little bit better of a view.  You can see where there are still gaps in the roof.  Snow was dripping in throughout the whole house.  Some of the water was dripping through the upstairs floor, and was making its way to the first floor.  But most of the water or shall I say ice was upstairs.

Here you can see Cody standing in the master bedroom.  It's so hard to take a picture to show the real size of it.  The room is 14.6 X 15.4

I could have sworn that I took a better picture of our room than this, but this is the only picture that I have that shows off both of the windows in our room.

Tim told me that on Monday they are going to start with the plumbing and electrical work.  Here you can see they've started with the vents.

Here is our shower.  It will have two shower heads.  We were a little bit surprised by it's size.  It is supposed to be a 5 X 5 shower, and I guess we were expecting something bigger.  Maybe it's one of those things that we'll have to wait a little longer to see what it looks like.  I was trying to look past all of the dirt that was in it from the muddy dripping snow...

Here is Cody in our bathroom and closet areas.

This is where our double sinks will be.

This is where our toilet will be. So it's all a little bit sectioned off.  This is not the largest master bathroom layout that Ryan Homes offers, but I think this will be a good size for us.

Our closets on the other had are the largest that Ryan Homes offers.  We actually have two walk in closets.  The one straight ahead is the smallest of the two, and the other is on the left hand side before it.  We are thinking about putting our dressers right into our closets.  Here is a good example of where the water was on the upper floor.  It really was throughout the house, but on the left hand side is a good picture.  A lot of that was iced over, and it was a little slippery in places.

Here is the larger closet.  Again, it's hard to see it to scale in the pictures.  Cody was joking that I could make this room my office, and eventually turn our office area downstairs into a kids playroom, because he doesn't want them down in his "man cave" basement.

Here is where our laundry room will be.  We were talking about getting cabinets installed in there above where the washer and dryer will be.

Here is Cody in one of our three other rooms on the second floor.  Two of the rooms in the house were about the same size, and one was slightly bigger than the others.  The dimensions are 10 X 12, 11.6 X 11, and 11 X 12.  This is the 11.6 X 11 room.

In this room both of the windows were broken.  Ryan Homes already told us that if any windows got broken during construction that they would replace them so I'm not too concerned.  It seems like every blog I've read about someone building a Ryan Homes house at least one window broken during construction.

Here is the 11 X 12 room, or the largest of the three other bedrooms.  It had a lot of water in it too.

Here is a view of the room from a different angle.  You can see where the closet will be, and you can see where the main floor bathroom will be.  The main floor bath had a little bit of a weird layout. It looks like the sink and the toilet will in a separate area than the tub.  You can kind of see it in the picture here.  It was hard to get good pictures of everything, because everything blends together.

I am still taking pictures from the largest room, but this is a different angle.  Here you can see the second largest room is next to it.  Hopefully that will help you get a feel of our house's layout.  When you come up the stairs, if you turn to the left you will walk by our smallest room and then onto our bedroom, master bath, and closet area.  If you turn to the right you will see the largest and second largest rooms, the main floor bath, and our laundry room.

Here the shower/tub combo for the main floor bath.

Here is a view from near the stairs.  You can see the hallway, where the smallest bedroom goes off of, and then the rest of the area is the master suite.  Behind me is the other rooms.

Here I am in the master bed room.

Here you can see our ceilings.  They will be about 8 ft tall once they are hung.  It's funny what a difference a foot makes, because our first floor which is 9 ft ceilings, seems a lot higher than our second floor ceilings.

Here you can see that the lake is snowed over.  Cody was talking about going ice skating on it, and I told him that he is crazy...  There wasn't too much of an update on our neighbors today either.  Their wood has not arrived yet, so they are basically looking the same as they did last week.

This is downstairs in our living room.  You can see that they are working on putting the vents in.

Here is Cody in the morning room going over all of our paperwork/specifications.

Safety first!  Here is the fire extinguisher and a carbon monoxide detector.

Here I am outside of our house.  We were a little bit under whelmed with the outside of our house.  It seemed like it was small/compact to us.  All of the house houses on the street have 5 windows on the front of their house, so it makes their house look a little bit wider.  So far our house is the only house in the development with 4 windows.  We are one of the first people to build a Palermo too so that shouldn't be surprising.

The Palermo down the street has a different roof pitch than us, and they only have 3 windows.  So I guess that is the style of the Palermo.  There is going to be at least one more Palermo built in our neighborhood.  The people a couple houses down are going to build one as well... so we'll see what their house looks like.

Here we are driving down the street towards our house.  You can see that we only have one window facing the left side of our house.  I guess we won't be spying on our neighbors too much!

We were laughing at that one window there.  It seemed kind of funny.  That is our largest room upstairs, and that is the only window in the room.  I guess they had to get one in where they could...

Here is the front of our house.  Can you tell that I was snapping pictures as Cody was driving??  You can kind of see the progression... he thought I was a nut taking all of those pictures, and he was mad when I took the picture of the other Palermo, because he thought it was rude...

You can see the dumpster that is a new addition to our front yard. Also, you can see the heater and plastic over our garage.  I can't wait until they start pumping some heat in our house!!  Maybe I'll be able to walk around and stay inside of it longer.  I hope you enjoyed our most recent update!  Time to go to my dad's super bowl party!  I don't want to miss all the good food...
