2021 in Review

Kayla turned 1 year old!

We had to have a Covid birthday party.  Her theme was Minnie Mouse and we Zoomed all of our family and friends to sing Happy Birthday to her.

We went on Kayla's first vacation to Cape Coral, FL.  We enjoyed staying at the Westin.

Easter pictures.

Kayla went on her first Easter Egg Hunt.  We went to a live action one and she could barely get an egg, but then we went to a church that had an everlasting egg hunt where you could show up whenever and get 10 eggs.  That was really enjoyable for the girls.

We went to the Nature Center at Huntington Beach for the first time with Aunt Becky and Abby.

Kayla started swimming lessons.

Kayla started gymnastics in North Olmsted with Abby.  It was a bigger gym where the North Olmsted gymnastics team practiced so it was a little overwhelming for just barely 18 month old Kayla.

We went to Majestic Meadows Alpaca Farm and Kayla loved petting the animals.

We went to Aunt Mary's celebration of life.  It was hard to believe that Aunt Mary was really gone, but it was nice to attend to get some closure.

Katelynn and Shawn's 3rd daughter, Charlotte, was born on May 29th.

We went to Hancock was 4th of July.  We didn't realize that this would be our last time seeing Cooper.  He died later in the year in a car accident.

Aunt Clara died on the 4th of July.

We had a birthday party for Kayla on her half birthday.  It was fun to get to have an outside/water birthday party.

CJ turned 1 year old.

We went to the Cleveland's Children Museum for the first time with Aunt Becky, Uncle Bobby, and Abby.

We went to the Asian Lantern Festival at the zoo.  This was my first time going, and it was sooo beautiful to see, but we went on a scorching hot night and were all melting by the end.

Kayla got to go to her first Corn Festival.

We went on a trip with the Johnson's to Gatlinburg, TN.

We went apple picking with Aunt Becky, Uncle Bobby, and Abby.

We went to Mapleside Farm with Grayson and his family.

Kayla wanted to be Elmo for Halloween this year, but she didn't want to wear the Elmo head.

We went on our first trip to Orlando.  We really really enjoyed our stay at Sea World.  Kayla was very into Sesame Street this year.  We also really liked going to the Magic Kingdom.

Kayla got her first haircut on Nov 27th 2021

2021 was a Covid Christmas.  We all caught Covid right before Christmas and had to spend it alone.  We also lost power in the morning, so it was a bit disruptive to our day.  It was one of our lonelier Christmas's but Kayla still helped make it magical.

2022 Predictions

As is my tradition... I like to try to make predictions for the next year.  I love re-reading these blogs on New Years Eve, and seeing how my predictions went.  I was just SUPER bummed to realize that I never wrote my 2021 predictions!  I made the blog, but never followed through with writing it!  Boo!!

  • We are heading to see a fertility doctor at the beginning of the year, so we're hoping for some 2022 baby news!
  • We are talking about going to Sesame Street Land in PA this year.
  • We were kicking around a possible cruise...
  • We are thinking about maybe at trip out to San Diego
  • We also have had talks about going to Vegas... or Orlando...
  • Jeez, I guess the only thing that I can predict is that I currently have no idea what our travel plans are going to be for 2022.
  • We're hoping that this new Omicron covid variant is going to help change the world and make Covid less deadly so that we are able to move on from our lives from Covid.
  • I don't see either of us getting new jobs this year.  We both got promoted in 2021!!
  • Kayla is doing really well at her new daycare.
    • I am predicting that she is going to start talking soon and that she'll be potty trained by the end of the year!
